Dynamic Drawing

Please note that while Connor is a comic book artist, classwork will not be based around comics or manga.

Do you feel you are confident drawing from reference but struggle while drawing from observation? Do you want to be able to draw quickly and confidently in a fun, fast, and fluid way from observation and imagination? The ability to visualize and draw from imagination is an essential quality possessed by top concept artists and illustrators.

In this 10 week course, taught by top artist and illustrator Connor Willumsen, you will learn essential tools and techniques to train your hand and eye so you can draw the beautiful world around you with confidence. You will be provided adequate coaching, critiques and feedback at every step of your learning process. You will become proficient in observing and visualizing any scene from multiple angles so you can create drawings that best convey the intended meaning. You will gain a deep understanding of perspective and space that will enable you to accurately represent three-dimensional objects in two-dimensional artwork. You will acquire the skills required to add weight, texture, and depict motion in your drawings so they appear dynamic and realistic. Finally, you will apply all that you have learned into creating a scene from imagination in the right composition that follows the desired visual narrative and strikes a chord with the viewer.

By the end of this course, you will have gained all the essential skills required to draw any scene from observation and imagination without relying on photography. In addition, you will also have created a fantastic art piece that you will be proud of.
