WANT TO BECOME A CONCEPT ARTIST?

Join one of our two programs and build a high quality concept art portfolio that will help you launch your career. We are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 intakes for our AEC - Concept Art (NTL.1V) program and for the Summer 2025 intake for the Online Concept Art Program.

HOW TO JOIN OUR PROGRAMS?

STEP 1

Take our preparation classes Benefit from our selection of preparation classes and gain the skills you need to submit your application. You can even start your journey as a beginner! Here are our Program Preparation Classes *Taking our preparation classes is completely optional, if you feel like you have the right level to apply to our programs, please go to STEP 2.

STEP 2

Start your application process You can submit your portfolio application at any time. A professional artist will review your portfolio and give you feedback. If your portfolio demonstrates that you have the required level, you will be pre-accepted and will be able to choose which program you would like to join and for which session. If you still need to improve in certain areas, the artist who evaluates your portfolio will tell you which element(s) you need to work on, and will indicate which preparation course(s) would be beneficial for you to take. Start your application process

STEP 3

Choose your program Once you are pre-accepted, you can select which program you would like to integrate. The section below explains the differences between the two programs.

Feature AEC - Concept Art (NTL.1V) Online Concept Art Program
Duration 24 months (8 Terms) 18 months (6 Terms)
Entry Level Both programs have the same entry level Both programs have the same entry level
Training Both programs offer intense, focused and highly relevant training from experienced concept artists and illustrators currently working in the entertainment industry. Both programs offer intense, focused and highly relevant training from experienced concept artists and illustrators currently working in the entertainment industry.
Location Located in the heart of Montreal, one of the most affordable and best student cities in North America. Montreal is also renowned as a breeding ground for studios in the entertainment industry. The program is entirely online, so it offers a great alternative to students who want to get the same education as our AEC program, but cannot afford to move and live in another country.
Language Both programs are offered in English Both programs are offered in English
Portfolio Building The final Portfolio Project of the AEC program is more extensive. At the end of their studies, the AEC students will present a portfolio that not only includes the IP they have developed, but also some work on different IPs and some teamwork projects. By the end of the program, the students would have built a high quality generalist concept art portfolio displaying an IP that they develop.
Tools The school lends the students a graphic tablet and laptop equipped with Photoshop and Blender. The students must have their own graphic tablets and a computer equipped with Photoshop and Blender.
Study Permit To study in Québec, foreign students must obtain a CAQ from the Government of Quebec and a Study permit from the Government of Canada. The program does not require a Quebec CAQ or a Canadian study permit, thus, it allows students from countries who face challenges in obtaining study permits to access similar education as our Montreal AEC Program.
Other Advantages The AEC program involves developing yourself within the Montreal industry, for example, meetings with local industry players, studio visits and more courses linked to integration into companies. It also offers workshops based on teamwork and work environment situations. All of our classes are recorded, ensuring that regardless of your time zone or schedule constraints, you have access to lectures, demos, feedback on your work and resources. Outside class hours, our Moodle platform will allow you to submit homework and assignments, as well as receive reviews and feedback from your teachers.
French Test As per section 88.0.18 of the Charter of the French Language, in order for the AEC to be issued, the student must, prior to obtaining it, pass a French language test that is currently recognized by the MIFI, at the following levels*: level 7 oral level 4 written *exceptions may apply (see details on the AEC program website) The Online Concept Art Program is a perfect alternative to our AEC program for anyone who doesn't speak French and doesn't have the time or the will to learn it.
Tuition $44,000 (8 installments) $29,000 (6 installments)
