Baron Joshua Balaba

My name is Baron, I'm a 26 year old 2D illustrator and concept artist from Philippines. I've been doing illustrations as my main passion for almost 7 years now and have constantly found ways to improve it through my years of doing art. I've recently gained a new found love for character, prop, and creature design as well. In the past years, my main driver is definitely Photoshop, but I also have past experience with Clip Studio Paint and Procreate as well. I love taking inspiration from my interests such as my love for cinema, gaming, culture, and a lot of other personal interests. But a lot of my passion of art stems from my love for games, as I've always wanted to create and conceptualize ideas, similar to the games I love such as Mass Effect, Final Fantasy XIV, Elden Ring, Skyrim, etc.

My project, "Alamat ni Perseo" is based on the ancient Greek mythology of the tale of Perseus and Medusa, but blended in with the culture of the indigenous people of the Philippines. The Philippines has great mythology as well so I wanted to show the rich culture the Philippines has while incorporating it with the classic Greek mythology tale.
