Portfolio Requirements
We invite you to submit your portfolio so we can assess your current skill level and help you choose the classes that will support your artistic growth. Your portfolio doesn’t need to be perfect, it’s simply a way for us to understand where you are in your artistic journey and to recommend which courses will be the most beneficial for you and where you would like to go.
General Requirements
- The portfolio you submit must be a collection of your original work, created in a realistic or semi realistic style (A few stylized pieces are fine, but please keep them limited).
- The majority of your work should have been created within the last year.
- Include 10 – 25 images that best represent your current abilities
- Do not include: celebrity portraits, fetish or erotica, furry art, overtly sexualied or gory imagery, fanart, manga/anime, or AI – generated artwork
Acceptable media
- You can include work in any of the following forms:
- Clear, non-blurry photos or scans of sketchbook pages
- Digitally painted artwork (Photoshop, Krita, Procreate, Corel Painter, Clip Studio Paint, Paint Tool SAI, etc.)
- Pencil drawings or graphite sketches
- Traditional paintings (acrylic, oil, gouache, watercolor, etc.)
- Mixed media work
- 3D renderings or sculpts (for example, Blender, ZBrush, or Maya)
Recommended Portfolio Content
To give us a strong sense of your current skill set, try to include:
- Observational drawings: still lifes, objects, interiors, or figures drawn from life or photo reference
- Studies of light and form: shaded drawings, grayscale paintings, or value studies
- Perspective work: buildings, vehicles, or constructed spaces showing spatial understanding
- Figure and anatomy studies: gesture drawings, mannequinized figures, or anatomy sketches
- Painted or rendered work: color studies, finished digital or traditional paintings
- Personal creative work: original characters, environments, or design ideas that show your interests and style
- (Optional) Sketchbook pages showing your thought process, thumbnails, or visual research
Submission Format
- Save all images on your computer in a folder of clearly labeled JPG/PNG files
- In this folder, include a brief description of what your artistic goals are, as well as your name and contact information
- Change the folder into a .zip folder (you can do this by right clicking on the folder and then selecting ‘Compress to > Zip File)
- Submit your portfolio .zip folder on the designated upload form on our website.
