This Fall, Syn Studio is offering artists around Montreal a chance to tap into their creativity and level up their watercolour and animal sketching skills under the guidance of top instructors with two amazing onsite workshops – Illustrating Urban Elements in Watercolour with Camila Picheco and Drawing Reptiles with Marc Lalumière

Illustrating Urban Elements in Watercolour with Camila Picheco

This is a watercolour workshop where you will create paintings focussed on buildings and urban elements such as trees, signs, roads, etc. under the guidance of Editorial Illustrator, Visual Development Artist and Watercolour Enthusiast, Camila Picheco. This workshop is ideal for those who are interested in the basic principles and painting techniques involved in illustrating urban environments. The bright beautiful colours and the cozy Fall weather add an extra element of vibrance and inspiration, providing a perfect setting for an outdoor workshop.

During this workshop, you will:

• Acquire the skills required to create your own plein air sketches and paintings from life and using references.
• Learn simple composition and stylization techniques that will help you add more emphasis to your subject. 
• Gain confidence and proficiency in creating eye-catching illustrations inspired by urban settings and cityscapes.
• Learn the essentials of basic color theory and watercolour painting techniques so you can create vivid and lifelike paintings.

Drawing Reptiles with Marc Lalumière

Do you like sketching animals, specifically reptiles? Are you fascinated by the anatomy and appearance of our cold blooded friends? Then this is the ideal workshop for you! In this workshop, experienced animal illustrator Marc Lalumière will guide you through the process of drawing reptiles accurately from live specimens. This workshop presents a great opportunity to learn more about animal physiology up close and personal and create realistic illustrations.

During this workshop, you will:

• Learn the usage of lines, tones and textures to render reptiles in a realistic and lifelike way.
• Gain insights into animal behaviour, evolution and environmental adaptation so you can accurately depict them in your images.
• Get valuable feedback and guidance while drawing reptiles so you can correct your mistakes and generate flawless reptile illustrations
• Learn essential techniques that will help you improve your speed enabling you to quickly create reptilian images from life and reference.
