Do you possess basic sketching skills but run into trouble when designing environment pieces from imagination? Would you like to learn the most effective methods for bringing your ideas to life without losing anything in translation? To become a successful concept artist, you must first become proficient at quickly sketching out your concepts.
This fantasy environment course teaches you the fundamentals of sketching environment concepts from imagination. You will learn to successfully build compositions from simple shapes and become proficient in creatively combining these shapes to create original environment sketches. You will develop the skills required to clearly convey a story through your sketches and incorporate key elements such as modules as well as geometric and organic forms in your workflow. When sketching from imagination, artists often find themselves lacking inspiration during their working process. Throughout this course, you will learn how to overcome this and find new sources of inspiration to maximize your creative output. You will understand how to effectively place key elements within your sketch, in addition to becoming proficient sketching in multiple perspectives.
By the end of this course, you will have all the skills necessary to create inspired and original environment sketches from imagination. Your understanding of forms, values and composition will have reached a new level, enabling you to create sketches that can be readily translated into production ready concept art.
You should have completed at least some intermediate level drawing class like Analytical Sketching (or have equivalent experience in realistic style drawing and painting: use of proper perspective, proportions, shading and colour).
Language requirements: You need at least intermediate level English to take this class (the teacher will use many visual examples and there will usually be students in the class who speak French and can help you if you don't understand something).
This is a new course being offered for the first time this semester and is expected to get filled up quickly
The late registration deadline is Wednesday, April 5 at 11:59 PM.
