Do your figure drawings or invented characters ever lack anatomical detail or accuracy? Do you wish you could understand and represent human anatomy like a master? Anatomical knowledge and drawing skill is critical for character designers and artists as well as illustrators, animators, comic book and fine artists. If you can draw realistic figures with convincing hands, feet, facial features, bony landmarks and musculature then your figures, portraits and characters will become stunningly believable.

In this advanced life drawing course, you will take your skills to the next level through a series of time-tested exercises designed to improve your anatomical drawing ability. Under the guidance of the instructor, you will work from plaster casts, live models, master studies and life-size skeletons to engrave the key anatomical structures into your visual memory. Through lecture, instructor demonstration and one-on-one coaching and correction from a master of anatomy, you will learn how to draw all the critical components you need to make convincing and accurate anatomical drawings. As you progress through this course, you will acquire a powerful method to first identify the key landmarks that you will use to build up your drawing and then step-by-step, construct a well-structured, balanced, accurate, and anatomically detailed representation of your subject.

By the end of this class, you will have the skills to draw people in a way that does justice to the magnificence of our human anatomy. You will have top-quality finished pieces for your traditional drawing portfolio and you will have a deep understanding of human anatomy that will put you ahead of the majority of industry and fine artists. If you are serious about drawing people, creating or animating characters then you need to take this essential class.

This class is level 3, or advanced. Drawing the Human Form or equivalent experience (competence and confidence drawing live models) is required.

Language requirements: You need at least intermediate level English to take this class (the teacher will use many visual examples and there will usually be students in the class who speak French and can help you if you don't understand something).
